HVS runs and supports a number of events in the village. Traditionally, we run the Archery stand at the Horse Show in June and a lucky dip at the Advent Fayre in December. Of course, the highlight of the year is the annual Dinner Dance, held in December, which is usually a sell-out affair.
Diamond Jubilee Beacon
In 2012 Hurst Parish Council and Hurst Village Society are planning for Hurst to be one of the official beacon sites for the Diamond Jubilee. There is a planning meeting on Wednesday 15 February at 8pm to discuss this further. The meeting is at the Castle Inn. This leaflet provides further details.

In May 2003 the "What's On in Hurst" Internet information service was launched. Complementary to the Village Society's printed newsletter and website, this free e-mail service delivers information about events and activities in and around the village straight to your inbox.
Mailings are normally sent out monthly, although they may be more frequent. Subscribers to the service also receive an electronic copy of the newsletter and other news about the Village. The easiest way to subscribe to the service is to send a blank e-mail to: "WoodedHill-subscribe@yahoogroups.com". You will receive a confirmation e-mail from Yahoo Groups (who host the service for us). To complete the subscription process, simply reply to their message.
The success of this service is dependent on support from people who want to publicise local events and activities. If you are organising an event or activity in Hurst, then let us know and we can include the details in a future mailing. If you are interested to know more about what is going on in your Village, and have access to e-mail, then subscribe today, and get your friends and neighbours to subscribe too.
